Self Expression and The Queen of Wands

Connecting with the Queen of Wands
In the course of my relationship with the Tarot, the Queen of Wands has been a familiar stranger to me.
The Queen represented that upbeat, self-assured energy I’d never quite known what do with.
Give me the angst of the Eight of Swords any day over the ease of the Empress.
Now I see that the tougher cards I felt such a kinship with were only comfortable because my life was so uncomfortable.
The cards pointed me to look at my inner-world of dissatisfaction and resentment which had become so normal to me.
It was only through the gradual exposure to the gentle, joyful cards (think Ten of Cups) that allowed me to practice new positive emotions and feel safe drawing them into my life experience.
The Queen introduced me to a feeling of expectant deserving that I’d never known, which I now call worthiness or enough-ness.
The Queen is a practice - and a state of being.
When we choose to be inspired by the qualities of the Queen of Wands, we accept that the same powerful potential exists within us.
Qualities of the the Queen of Wands:
Knows their inherent power to channel creative energy
Listens to their own needs first
Understands that emotions like guilt, unworthiness and resentment are part of the ebb & flow of life- but are not their identity
Embraces the gifts that are unique to them
Prioritizes joy and pleasure without guilt
Knows their worth, power and magic
Falls in love with their unique process
Embraces the physical senses and uses them as an intuitive gateway
Releases judgement of their work and creations
Embraces receptivity and inspiration to guide calm, confident action
Boldly embraces the whole self (both the revealed & the yet to be revealed)
Is focused on what they have to express rather than how that expression is received.
Allows Spiritual energy to flow through them without judgement or self censorship.
Above all else the Queen requires presence.
We learn to allow the full focus of our attention in this very moment.
When I read Tarot , I am joyfully connected to and working for Spirit.
I calm my nervous system down enough to to allow spiritual information to move through me.
My work is to get out the way and receive the energy, clarity and intelligence that wants to come through.
It’s different from communicating solely from my intellect or rational mind.
With practice we can learn to regulate our our nervous system to merge more fully with the non-physical, energetic part of us.
We meet our Spirit in the space of pure, positive, loving attention it holds for us. It never needs to be earned because it’s your gift to receive.
Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas.
AFFIRMATIONS
I’ve used affirmations over the years to upgrade my beliefs about myself what I deserve.
It only requires commitment & a willingness to feel a little silly at first.
It’s ok if it doesn’t feel real or believable when you first start working with affirmations.
Anything new will be uncomfortable at first.
Besides, as Louise Hay says, if you already believed these things- you would’t need the affirmation ;)
I am safe in the Universe and all of Life supports me.
I am worthy of everything I desire.
I am loved and cherished by Spirit
Divine Wisdom Guides me.
I am a channel for Divine ideas.

The Practice
6 Ways to Connect with the Energy of the Queen of Wands
Create an Altar using objects you already own. Think of items that conjure up the feeling of fire: wood, baskets, your favorite crystals. Add a hand-drawn picture or written affirmation. Go for a walk and find leaves, sticks (wands!). Use incense or a candle to engage your senses.
Begin your day with a spoken positive intention.
“ Spirit, on this day lead me to the highest degree of awareness, creativity and to my best possible good. Surprise me! I am open to miracles.”
Make an Affirmation song. String together a few of your favorite affirmations & put them to the melody of happy song. Get silly and find playful words to make the verses rhyme!
Color has a huge affect on our psychology. Try wearing red, orange or brown. If you’re someone who only wears neutral colors - this one’s for you!
Find “low-stakes” creative play like finger painting, oracle cards, dance & shake your body (I recommend Toast by Koffee) or jump in a pile of leaves!
Close your day with gratitude.
“I am in the flow of life. The day is done and I release it to the past. I am open to receive all that is good for me. Thank you.”
